The Easy Gm Guitar Chord Shape
Gm Chord Diagram
This Is The Easy Shape. Here You Really Just Need To Fret A Single Finger. This Little Barre Shouldn’t Be To Hard To Fret.
But You Need To Avoid The A & The Low E String.
To Do That You Can Mute These Strings With Your Thumb Like In The Photo. But You Can’t Do That On A Classical Guitar Cause The Neck Is Way Too Big To Grip With Your Thumb Around The Neck.
Or You Just Don’t Strum Them In The First Place.
You Decide!
The Easy Gm Guitar Chord Shape w/ Thumb
Gm Chord Diagram
This One Here Doesn’t Work On A Classical Guitar Due To The Bigger Neck Size.
It’s Basically The Same Shape Like The Previous But You Fret The Low E String With Your Thumb On The 3rd Fret.
This Results In A Fuller Sounding Gm Guitar Chord.
The A String Is Muted With The Thumb.
The Barre Chord Shape W/ Root Note On The E String
Gm Chord Diagram
This Is A Standard Barre Chord Shape For The Minor Chord With The Root Note On The E String.
Playing A Complete Barre Chord Can Be Quite Challenging, Especially For Guitar Beginners.
If This Is You, Then I Recommend That You Put Some Time And Effort Into Practicing This Technique.

The Barre Chord Shape W/ Root Note On The A String
Gm Chord Diagram
This Chord Shape Is Also A Standard One For Minor Chords. The Root Note Is Located On The A String Here.
In The Case Of The G Minor Chord This Shape Is Probably Not Very Useful Due To The Fact That It’s Played On The 10th Fret. That’s Way Too High And Therefore It’s Hard To Fret And Sounds Not Very Full.
Just Try And Decide For Yourself!
If You Wanna Play It Anyway, Then Here’s A Tip: You Need To Mute The Low E String By Slightly Touching It With The Index Finger Or By Simply Not Strumming It.
The Alternative Thumb Shape
Gm Chord Diagram
I Like This Shape. But It’s Weird.
You Might Fall In Love With It Too.
If You Take A Closer Look, Then You Can Recognize That It’s Basically The Same Shape As The Barre Chord Shape w/ The Root Note On The E String.
The Main Difference Is That You’re Fretting The Root Note With Your Thumb Here.
This Causes A Certain Angle And You Automatically Dampening The High E And The A String.
This Shape Is Great If You’re Standing And Playing Electric Guitar Or A Steel String Acoustic.
If You’re Trying This On A Classical Nylon String Then You Gonna Have A Hard Time Trying This Because Of The Bigger Sized Neck.
So What’s Next?
Alright, That Was Quite Intense, Right?
I Really Hope That You’ve Learned A Thing Or Two. That Would Be Great!
